The
following list represents possible projects in various categories for marketing
in the press books and artist book market.
The anticipated
strategy is to create a large number of inexpensive projects in order to
attract sales to first time buyers including special collections, book
collectors and dealers. The tactic is to lure them in with a number of cheaper
artifacts, in the hope that collections will be established which will result
in standing orders and to the sale of the large expensive projects.
FOLIOS
Folios
are here defined as a single sheet of paper, of varying sizes, folded once,
wrapped around a single photographic print. The folio wrapper is printed on
both sides, usually with a smaller image on the front. The print is a single
sheet, printed on one side only with a border surrounding the image. Both are
numbered and signed.
The subject
matters may include prose, advertisements, politics, etc., but primarily they
will be one poem with at least one illustrative image and a single photographic
print.
The edition can
either be inexpensive, unlimited digital; or more costly limited letterpress
and inkjet.

digital and/or letterpress.
The subject
matters may include prose, advertisements, politics, etc., but primarily they
will be one poem with at least one image.

ABSTRACTIONS
The
idea is to emulate the look of woodblock and linoleum prints and to use this to
suggest and lead into more abstract images created digitally.
The technique is
applicable to all projects and editions, but most specifically to poems that
have no convenient and/or matching photographic image.
BOOKS
This
particular category pertains to editions of small format, with shorter, more
focussed content, in order to achieve an inexpensive and accessible edition.
Based on paper
sizes, the most convenient format sizes are 4x5, 5x8 & 6x9 and are intended
to range in price from $100 to $400. It may be possible to have pine slipcases
built cheaply in Mexico, or simply stick with lucite.
Two types of
edition are possible: an inexpensive, unlimited digital edition; or a more
costly limited letterpress and inkjet edition. The Letterpress/Inkjet edition
may have color inkjet illustrations on all pages and/or single sided prints.
Two general
categories are anticipated, both with images; Prose and Poetry.
